Project Sticker Shock
The mission of the Falmouth Prevention Partnership is to mobilize the community to reduce substance abuse in youth.
One way to achieve this is to educate the public with awareness and valid information that it is illegal to provide alcohol to people under 21 (“M.G.L. c. 138, #34).
One of the strategies to support not providing alcohol to minors that the Partnership facilitates is the Sticker Shock Project. The Partnership recruits and collaborates with interested youth and adults to promote the sticker:
WE WON'T
IT'S ILLEGAL TO PROVIDE ALCOHOL TO PEOPLE UNDER 21
SO PLEASE DON'T
These stickers are placed on bags at 14 participating liquor stores during a 3-5 hour period of time over a weekend. Another part of the campaign is the development of a media campaign that will call attention to the problems of underage drinking.
